BERICAP is progressing with the market introduction of the SuperShorty®. Meanwhile two beer bottlers have switched from PCO 1810 (the so called PCO 28) to PCO 1881. Further companies will follow shortly. The next conversion projects do not only concern beer bottlers, but also CSD and water bottlers. PCO 1881 is mainly progressing from Europe to Asia, but also in the Americas.
Comparative tests concerning the finish deformation risk under hot climate conditions for PCO 1810 vs. PCO 1881 showed no significant difference between the two. Before PCO 1881 will receive the status of voluntary standard it remains that two line tests with PCO 1881 have been performed successfully under surveillance of the ISBT. It is important to repeat that the development of short neck finish PCO 1881 within ISBT is an initiative of numerous market participants including brand owners, preform manufacturers, closure manufacturers and equipment and filling line manufacturers.
BERICAP has enhanced its Supershorty portfolio suitable to PCO 1881. The venting capacity of the SuperShorty Crown design and the SuperShorty CSD design has been enlarged to ensure safe venting on 2,5-l-bottles filled with up to 4,7 Vol%CO². Safe venting means that the risk of blow-off has been reduced drastically also for cases when consumers unscrew the closure with excessive speed. All SuperShorty variants are equipped with the well proven DoubleSeal™ system for safe sealing also under hot climate conditions. In addition SuperShorty has been perfected to ensure proper rinsing after wet decontamination in aseptic filling lines.
BERICAP has gathered profound experience for conversion of filling lines from PCO 1810 to PCO 1881 based on numerous projects. This experience includes line conversion as well as knowledge for maximum weight savings.
